Dubai Crude Oil Price Today
The Asia benchmark for Persian Gulf exports.
Note: Dubai is derived from the Brent benchmark using the latest FRED monthly spread data.
What is Dubai Crude?
Dubai crudeis a medium sour oil produced in the emirate of Dubai and used — together with Oman — as the primary benchmark for pricing Persian Gulf crude exports bound for Asia. Unlike WTI or Brent, Dubai is heavier and has higher sulfur content, which makes it more representative of the actual Middle East grades that flow to refineries in China, South Korea, Japan, and India. S&P Global Platts publishes the daily Dubai assessment through its Market-on-Close (MOC) process, and major national oil companies — Saudi Aramco, ADNOC, and KPC — use the Dubai/Oman average as the base for their monthly Official Selling Prices (OSPs) to Asian buyers. When you hear about "OPEC Asia premium," it is typically measured against the Dubai strip.
Why Dubai Matters for Asia
- Asia imports roughly two-thirds of all seaborne crude globally, and the Middle East supplies most of it. Dubai reflects those flows more accurately than Brent.
- Korea, Japan, and China peg long-term supply contracts to the Dubai/Oman average, making it the default price benchmark for Asian refiners.
- Brent-Dubai EFS (Exchange of Futures for Swaps) is the standard arbitrage tool traders use to move Atlantic Basin barrels east when the spread widens.
- OPEC+ decisions have the most direct impact on Dubai because Gulf producers physically deliver the barrels underlying it.
